Caviar Sconce

120V/220V: LED, 3000K, dimmable by TRIAC (forward-phase or leading-edge), ELV (reverse-phase or trailing-edge) and 0-10 V dimmers.

Each piece is unique due to process.

Caviar Sconces focus an illuminated lens on a textured surface to create a viewing portal to another world. The black granules of “caviar” are an industrial sanding material, steel shot, which is bound with epoxy. An open faced mold is used so that a specific technical shape can be given to the back of the sconce while the top is randomly formed by the “caviar” falling as it may. This shows a duality in the nature of the material in its ability to be formed and to make form on its own and exemplifies our design philosophy of working in partnership with a material.

Other materials have been incorporated in the years since its original design with pyrite being the most popular version but also including quartz, brass globules, sand and garnet.
