Furniture
“The Sacred Tree” furniture and lighting collection presents new inspiration from our exploration of local historical sites, like Fonthill Castle in Doylestown, PA and Green-Wood Cemetery, near our new studio in South Slope, Brooklyn.
At Fonthill Castle, we were introduced to Henry Chapman Mercer’s Moravian ceramic tile collection, full of eclectic floral, fauna, and pastoral figural motifs. That imagery, combined with the scenic views and organic life of Green-Wood Cemetery, particularly influenced the natural, comical, and symbolic visuals for our side tables.
Other aspects of the collection, such as our chairs and coffee tables, show an evolution of our established interest in mixing natural materials and forms with studio-developed, small-scale industrial production techniques. For example, we combined a mix of walnut species, wood and shells, for our chairs and coffee tables.
This collection is deeply personal, sharing the experiences and the observations of the world immediately around us.
